Have something to say and want to learn how to say it in print? Join Jofa for a two part op-ed training series led by Nomi Kaltmann, founder of Jofa Australia, designed to help you turn your ideas into a published piece.

Whether you’re passionate about halakhic questions, Jewish communal life, women’s leadership, or issues facing your community, this series will give you the tools and support to write an op-ed that gets noticed and gets placed.

About Nomi Kaltmann

Nomi Kaltmann is a lawyer, journalist, educator and political strategist. She is a columnist at The Jewish Independent and the Australian correspondent for Tablet Magazine in New York, with writing that has also appeared in The Guardian, The Age, Crikey, Mamamia and The Daily Beast, among others. She is a sought after writing teacher who focuses on opinion editorial writing, helping professionals and creatives get published. Nomi is the founder and inaugural president of the Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance in Australia and a 2023 graduate of Yeshivat Maharat.

What to expect

Two live Zoom sessions, each 1.5 hours long:

Monday, November 9th at 7:00pm EST
Monday, November 16th at 7:00pm EST

Participants must be able to attend both sessions. The group is limited to 10 women so we can keep the experience personal and interactive.

What you’ll get

Beyond the two live teaching sessions, Nomi will work with each participant individually, offering:

  • Up to 2 rounds of edits on your draft
  • Guidance on shaping a compelling pitch
  • Support identifying the right publication for your piece
