Shabbat T'lamdeini
Shabbat T'lamdeini offered women possessed of strong leadership skills and a high level of Jewish scholarship an opportunity to exercise their abilities and be appropriately recognized for them at a time when few such opportunities existed.  The success of Shabbat T’lamdeini led to the establishment of JOFA’s Speakers Bureau which continues to promote Jewish women's learning and scholarship.

Film Festival
Tehora, a groundbreaking film by director Anat Zuria was screened to sold out audiences in 2003 at the JCC on the west side of Manhattan. A lively panel discussion with the filmmaker and outstanding female Jewish Scholars followed the screenings.

Tehora examines three Orthodox Jewish women's views about marriage, niddah, and mikvah use. The film seeks to address the gap often prevalent between the idealization of the observance of certain mitzvoth, and the reality of observance of those mizvoth. An organization rooted in halakha, JOFA sponsored this film screening because it is imperative to facilitate open discussion on halakhic topics, often considered taboo, that are so central to the lives of Orthodox women.

Tu b'Shvat Seder
The JOFA Tu b'Shvat Seder for Women, held in 2001 & 2002, included music, dancing, and supper; all of which surrounded a joyous and inspirational reading of the Tu b'Shvat Haggadah. Women of all ages came together to celebrate the deep mystical connection between Torah learning and nature, as the Talmud says in Sanhedrin 17b "Any city that has no fruit in it has no Torah in it, because the varieties of fruit open the eyes."

Israel Mission
Over 45 women and men attended the JOFA Mission to Israel, held May 19-26, 2002. The mission offered participants the opportunity to meet with female members of Knesset, learn with outstanding female Torah Scholars, visit innovative educational institutions for girls and women, interact with soldiers in the female "hesder"" learning program, and examine how Israel addresses issues of sexual harassment, domestic violence, and the agunah crisis.
