JOFA's Joan S. Meyers Memorial Torah Lending Program provides a Sefer Torah that will be available for use by women and girls in ritual prayer settings for events such as bat mitzvah, engagement, marriage, birth, Rosh Hodesh, or other milestones in the New York tri-state area. Please fill out the form below and someone will be in touch with you to discuss the availability of the Torah for your event.
We are pleased that you have chosen to borrow a Torah and/or religious articles for your tefillah and hope that their presence will help you to enjoy a meaningful and memorable experience. JOFA would like to thank Shari and Nathan Lindenbaum for making this program possible through the generous loan of their Sefer Torah.
The Torah and its accompanying religious articles (aron, siddurim, etc.) are loaned out on a first-‐come first serve basis and are available for use in the Tri-‐ state area exclusively (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut). They must be reserved at least six weeks in advance. The pick-‐up and drop-‐off site is in Teaneck, NJ. A Torah has great monetary value. In order to ensure its safety, it is expected that you will adhere to all requirements stated in the final contract.
A Torah also has tremendous intrinsic value. It is our most precious object of religious ceremony and must be treated with reverence and kavod. The Torah needs to remain in an adult-‐supervised, protected, appropriate environment at all times and should be handled gently.
