Judy Klitsner is the author of the new book,Subversive Sequels in the Bible: How Biblical Stories Mine and Undermine Each Other (Jewish Publication Society, fall 2009). Judy is a senior faculty member at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, and a popular speaker worldwide, at synagogues including Lincoln Square, Kesher Israel, Ahavat Torah, Hebrew Institute of Riverdale, and Shaarei Tefillah, to programs including Maayan, Drisha, 92nd Street Y, Limmud, Hadar, Chovovei, JTS, Hebrew College, and the DC Women's Beit Midrash. Judy Klitsner has been teaching the Jewish bible and Jewish biblical exegesis for nearly two decades, weaving together traditional exegesis, modern scholarship, and her own original interpretations that are informed by close readings of the text. Judy was a pioneering founder of both the original Shira Hadasha community in Jerusalem, as well as the Shira Hadasha movement worldwide. Her many thousands of past students, many now prominent educators and rabbis in the Jewish world, can attest to her dynamic and energizing appeal to diverse audiences.
